WWAA_GaussianDenoiseFilter

A ComfyUI custom node that applies a Gaussian Denoising Filter to an image. Gaussian denoising works by convolving the image with a Gaussian kernel, which effectively averages nearby pixels weighted by a bell-curve distribution — smoothing out high-frequency noise while (at low sigma values) preserving larger structural edges. Parameters exposed to the user -------------------------------- sigma – Controls the spread of the Gaussian kernel. Small values (0.5–1.0) = gentle denoising, preserves detail. Large values (3.0–10.0) = heavy smoothing, removes more noise but also blurs edges. kernel_size – Width/height of the convolution kernel (must be odd). Rule of thumb: kernel ≈ 6 × sigma (rounded to next odd int). Larger kernels capture a wider neighbourhood; paired with a high sigma they produce very heavy smoothing. passes – Number of times to apply the filter sequentially. Multiple passes approximate stronger denoising without needing a very large kernel. sharpen_strength – Amount of unsharp-masking applied AFTER denoising to recover perceived sharpness. 0.0 = no sharpening (pure denoised output). 1.0 = moderate sharpening. 2.0+ = strong edge recovery (can re-introduce artifacts if set too high). color_space – Whether to denoise in RGB or convert to LAB first and only denoise the Luminance channel (less colour smearing).
